PRACTICAL INFORMATION LEGACY

By including Sealcentre Pieterburen in your will, you contribute to a sustainable future of the seal and its habitat in the Netherlands. Below you will find practical information you need to do this. We also answer some frequently asked questions.

The Wadden Sea

What is the difference between a legislation and an inheritance?

There are two ways you can include a donation to the Seal Centre in your will. You can make a bequest or an appointment of heir. With a legacy , the Sealcentre receives a clearly defined asset (such as a piece of land or a house) or a certain amount of money. With an inheritance , you name the Sealcentre heir in whole or in part.

In both cases, you decide the amount of money or (real) property. Many choose to arrange this with their own notary. We can also put you in touch with our own notary. The notary will ensure that all your wishes are taken into account so that your estate is in good hands.

What information do I need to include the Sealcentre in my will?

The notary needs the following data:
Statutory name: Stichting Zeehondencentrum Pieterburen
Registered office: Pieterburen
Address: Hoofdstraat 94a, 9968 AG Pieterburen
Registered with the Chamber of Commerce under number: 41009242

Do I have to pay tax on my inheritance?

The Sealcentre is an ANBI institution. This means that we do not have to pay tax on legacies and inheritances. In the Netherlands, inheritance tax is charged on inheritances. Charities such as the Sealcentre are exempt from inheritance tax. As a result, you can be sure that the entire amount of your legacy will fully contribute to the seals and their habitat.

Do I have to pay tax on my inheritance?

Sealcentre Pieterburen is an Accredited Charity. This means that we meet strict quality requirements. The supervisory body CBF checks this. So you can be sure that we contribute to a better world, handle every euro with care and are accountable. Want to know more about the quality requirements and CBF control? Go to cbf.nl.
