Olaf is a grey seal pup. He is the first pup that was rescued this winter. Olaf was found on December 10th  on the beach of the Dutch island of Vlieland. He was about 3 days old at the time. Probably he was born around December 7th, just when heavy storms swept over the Wadden Sea. There is a good chance that he was washed off the higher sandbanks. With his thick white fur he cannot swim yet and Olaf was very lucky that he ended up on the beach of Vlieland, he could easily have drowned.

People passing by on the beach had heard the cry of a seal pup and the local volunteer Willem was soon able to find him. He decided to observe first, because there was a chance that the mother would come back. But it was soon clear  that the mother would not return. That is why Olaf has been transferred to the Sealcentre  where he is now being cared for. To become strong and healthy enough, Olaf needs a lot of fish. Do you want to help Olaf and give him a portion of fish?
