After another two weeks of treatment, the latest x-rays taken from Scar's flipper showed no changes. That was not what was hoped for but the situation has not deteriorated further either. It was therefore decided to extend the treatment.

Scar's treatment is now being continued and soon the vets hope to see an improvement in new x-rays. Scar is in an outdoor pool where he resides with two other seals. He can be found a lot in the water and at the moment seems ok with everything that is going on around him.

Scar got some rest in a little pool and that helped him a lot. His weight is now stable and he is clearly ready to go home. Scar is active and alive. He is getting heavy and everything in his behaviour shows that he is ready to go. And he will, tomorrow....

Two steps forward but one step back. Exactly one month later there is news about Scar. He is doing better but is not there yet. He is using his flipper more and is enjoying a big outdoor pool but suddenly he lost some weight and so he's back inside.

Another two weeks have passed and new x-rays have been taken. The vets did see some improvement and we are so happy with that! Scar is not using his flipper very much yet but he is eating well and behaving like a normal seal.

The new X-rays have been made and have been forwarded to experienced radiologists for their expert judgment. Because Scar is still not using his front flap properly and the veterinarians have discovered signs of bone inflammation

Scar is not moving his front flipper properly yet and it has been decided that new X-rays will be made on Monday. There was nothing to be seen on the previous photos and hopefully new photos can provide more clarity this time.

After the first few days Scar has recovered well from the entanglement, which didn’t make deep wounds but now he doesn't want to use his left front flipper and that worries us because usualy means the flipper is painful.

This young grey seal was found on Schiermonnikoog by EHBZ-er Teun Talsma. He became entangled, possibly in the lines of a standing wall net and could be that in his attempts to come loose he became even more entangled.
