Sealcentre Pieterburen is the largest seal rescue and rehabilitation centre in the Netherlands. Seals who are injured, sick or orphaned will be rehabilitated and released. During your visit you can learn more about the daily care of the seals, but also their natural habitat: the Wadden Sea and threats like plastic soup. Walk around in the visitor centre and see the seals in the three phases; from intensive care till the outdoor pools when they are nearly ready to be released again.

The Seal center is open daily from 10:00 - 17:00 hours and located 25 km north of the city of Groningen in the Netherlands.

Children can play in the Waddenplaygound

From the visitor centre you can take a walk to the Waddenplayground. Children can play in the water, climb and discover the tides. Nearby there is a summer pavilion, where you can drink and eat something.

Discover the shark exhibition

The temporary exhibition is about two of the shark species using the Wadden Sea; the tope shark and the starry smooth-hound. Via big models of both species you can learn about how sharks find their prey, what they exactly eat and why they use the Wadden Sea.
