The exhibitions in the visitor’s center are all about SEALS, SEA & SCIENCE. You can dive into the life of the seal (SEALS) and discover the characteristics of the two Dutch seal species; the grey seal and the common seal. Both seal species are found in the Wadden Sea (SEA), which was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2009.

These seals are an important means by which to estimate the health of our marine ecosystem. Too often seals are brought into the center with wounds from fishing nets or plastic. In the exhibitions you see, amongst other things, the impact of plastic waste in the sea and we provide tips on how you can contribute to a cleaner sea. Scientific research (SCIENCE) is an indispensable part of the work in the Sealcentre. Science can help us gain knowledge which can be used to improve the care of the animals and learn more about their habitat. Do your own research by looking at parasites or watch a film in the cinema about the ground-breaking research into the behaviour of seals.
